Holiday season is all about fun, food and celebration, it’s also the best time for crafts and DIYs. I love to decorate my home for the holidays. Every year we add something unique to our display. These are some of the crafts we made to make our holiday display super special.
During the holiday season, the windows in every house gets all decked up. It is such a wonderful thing to look at when you walk on the streets. This year I made some hanging ornaments for my windows which made it literally sparkle.
Now we have all the things we need, let’s string these ornaments.
I have used the silver beading wire which is used for making necklaces. You can get this in any craft store.
It is very thin it’s literally invisible when you hang them. It looks like your snowflakes are floating in the air.
Make sure you leave a gap in between the ornaments when you string them as I have shown in the picture.
Leave a little bit of string on the top and at the bottom which makes it easy to tie it to your curtain rod and add a beautiful ornament at the end.
To string these in a row, Just loop it around the spiky edges. It’s more than enough to keep it in place. It’s easy to remove them and place it back again if it’s not spaced properly.
Since Red, Gold and Silver are the preferred colors of holiday season I did a couple of these in different colors to make the display stand out.
None of my display is complete without candles. I love these lanterns, they are so safe to place on the window sill, it won’t tip over so your curtains are safe. Even if you keep the windows open the wind doesn’t blow off the candles.
The weight of these glass ornaments keep the strings straight.
This lovely display looks great both in the sunlight and in the candle light. I just kept the blinds down so that the snowflakes are shown clearly in the picture.
My kids have an amazing holiday spirit, they love to decorate their room in a fun and unique way. Our next project is to jazz up these cube shelfs for the holidays. They have this open back shelfs above their desk and it dresses up according to the season. They collect small ornaments and this is the time we put them to use.
This display looks amazing right, let me tell you what we did …
I love these cube shelfs. They come in different sizes and you can place them in many different ways. One drawback is, they have a open back. So all you see is the beige wall as the background. I wanted to add some color to this.
This is how we did it …
I got some card stock paper in red, green and blue, put the shelf on top, traced the out line, cut it and glued it on the back of the shelf.
When you do this, the nail wholes on the shelf get covered, to find that, just use your finger as a guide and move it across the border. You will be able to feel the indentation, just press it hard and it leaves a mark, then use a pen or pencil to make a whole.
How easy is that. We did this to all the shelfs. Now it has a beautiful colorful background to display our trinkets.
I bought this small table top battery operated tree, looks really pretty when it’s lit up. Thought how wonderful it would be to put real presents underneath it. So I bought cute earrings for my kids as presents, it comes in these mini boxes so I wrapped them up and put a mini bow on it. This will be a great surprise for them.
Now that the tree is complete, I have to focus on the Santa…
These are cute little Christmas ornaments, we just cut the strings to make it look like figurines.
We had a hard time keeping the Santa up, so we inserted a tooth pick on the back of the ornament and stuck it on top of the tea light candle. Looks like he is standing on a pedestal now. Instead of a red gift bag, my kids put a glitter charm. Isn’t it lovely?
We don’t have a fire place, but my kids never forget to keep a plate of cookies and a glass of hot cocoa on the desk for Santa. 😄
Look at this cute little jingle bell snowman.
To add more interest we added the Reindeer and the Teddybear. They are solar powered so when sun shines on them, they bobble their head. Wonderful, right? We hung this Jingle bell with a black thread and secured it with scotch tape.
Our hodilay decor is not complete without the Christmas tree. We found this small one foot tall tree, that sits perfectly on the window sill. My kids did a great job hanging these beautiful glass ornaments. Look how pretty it is!
The first week of December is very busy for us. We decorate our home and we go to see the tree lighting ceremony in our city. What a festive way to start the month, this brings us all into a festive mood. So spread the cheer have fun and enjoy the celebrations !
My job is not done yet I have to make hot cocoa, get the presents wrapped up and ready for my family and friends. Bake a whole lot of festive cookies and cakes. So, Until I see you again…
✨Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday Season!✨
